Leonard Earl Barnett
11/11/1930 - 2/5/2010



Mount Holly, NC- Mr. Leonard Earl Barnett, age 79, formerly of Lenoir, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.


Born November 11, 1930 in Gaffney, South Carolina, Mr. Barnett was the son of the late Leonard Odell and Elizabeth Mabel Page Barnett. He was of Methodist faith and attended the First Methodist Church of Hendersonville, North Carolina. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed showing horses.


Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife, June Trout Barnett of the home, Leonard Barnett, Jr. and wife Lynn of Hickory, Karen Barnett of Fall Branch, Tennessee, William Gregory Barnett and wife Tammy of Mt. Airy, and Sharon Marlene Barnett of Mt. Holly. He is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Odell King of Sevierville, Tennessee and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


A graveside service honoring Mr. Barnett will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2010 at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, North Carolina with the Reverend Mike Bellany officiating.  


Pallbearers for the service will be Bryan Ballard, Thomas Mauldin, Roger Greene, Ray Gibbs, Johnny Gibbs and Carroll Jamerison.


The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 9, 2010 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service & Crematory in Lenoir.



Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research, Western Carolina, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
