Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Margaret Gilbert Whisnant, age 66, of Lenoir, passed away on July 17, 2010 at the Catawba Valley Medical Center.
Born October 15, 1943 in Caldwell County, Margaret was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lexie Holman Gilbert. She was a member of the Miracle Church in Lenoir. She had worked for many years as a cafeteria worker with the Caldwell County School System. Margaret loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Gilbert; one grandson, Joshua Whisnant; and one great granddaughter, Bailey Tart.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Boyd Whisnant of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Nolan Brown of Lenoir; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Penny Whisnant of Lenoir, David and Angela Whisnant of Andrews, and Tommy and Amy Whisnant of Granite Falls; one sister, Lillie Gurley of Lenoir; four brothers, Jack Gilbert, Lloyd Gilbert, Richard Gilbert and Roy Gilbert all from Lenoir; 10 grandchildren, Carrie Whisnant, Lindsey Whisnant, Chase Whisnant, Chelsee Walker, Kristi Darnell, Shane Brown, Tiffany Whisnant, Jazmine Whisnant, Skylar Whisnant, and Bryson Whisnant; two great grandchildren, Autumn Tart and Aubrey Tart; she is also survived by numerous other relatives.
A celebration of Mrs. Whisnant’s life will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, July 20, 2010, in the Evans Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Tim Suter and Reverend Ronnie Gibbie officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Gilbert, Dale Tart, David White, Chad Starnes, Jerry Starnes, and Larry Williams.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 20, 2010, from 2:00 until 3:00, at the funeral home.
