Hudson, NC- Mr. Allie Atris Church, age 94, of Hudson, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Caldwell Hospice in Hudson. Born April 9, 1923 in Ashe County, Allie was a son of the late Allie and Stella Woody Church. He retired from Bernhardt Furniture at the age of 70. He enjoyed doing many outdoor activities including bee keeping, gardening, fishing, woodworking and visiting his home place in the mountains. Mr. Church was devoted to his family. He was a source of comfort and encouragement to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He treasured spending time with them and loved telling them stories of days of old. He spent hours reading and studying his Bible and applying it to all aspects of his life. His prayer was that each member of his family has a personal relationship with Jesus so we can one day have a family reunion in Heaven. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Eulna Mae Nelson Church; a daughter, Hope Church; a son, Roger Church; two granddaughters, Brenda Kay Craig and Linda Gail Craig; a son in law, Tommy Summerlin; a grandson in law, Brian Williams; two brothers, Lovell Church and Hayes Church; and one sister, Doris Church. Survivors include three daughters, Janette Craig and husband Dorman, Wanda Laws and husband Jerry, and Brenda Baumberger and husband Mike, his daughter in law, Karen Church; his grandchildren, Kim Gragg and husband Keith, Crystal Williams and Fiancé Randy, Teresa Robertson and husband James, Tamara Dillard and husband Lonnie, Beth Laws, Mitchell Laws and wife Donna, Brian Craig, Maggie Thomas and husband Gregg and Heather Gragg and husband Jon; his great grandchildren, Trevor, Carly, Brandon and wife Brittany, Brooke, Lauren, Andrew, Tyler and wife Emily, Tanner and Fiancé Brooke, Taryn, Katelyn, Alex, Atris, Asher, Clementine, Silas, Lachlan, Wiley, Summerlin and Hadley; his great great grandchildren, Anthony, Jaxxon, Ryker and Andie Mae; also numerous other relatives. A celebration of Allie’s life will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Hibriten Baptist Church with Pastor Douglas Cox, Reverend Devin Severt and Reverend Bud McLean officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Craig, Mitchell Laws, Alex Laws, Trevor Gragg, Brandon Williams, Tanner Dillard, Tyler Dillard and Andrew Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Echeverria, Wiley Gragg, Silas Thomas, Asher Thomas, Lachlan Thomas, Jaxxon Williams and Ryker Williams. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Evans Funeral Service from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645. Online condolences can be sent to the Church family at www.evansfuneralservice.com.
