Anthony (Andy) Eric Day, 56, of Caldwell County, North Carolina, went to his heavenly home on June 14, 2025, surrounded by his family who loved him the most.
Born September 11, 1968, Andy lived a life rooted in love--love for his family, his faith and his community. With honor and humility, he served the Hudson Police Department 30 years, 7 years as Chief of Police. After a one-day retirement he became Director of Basic Law Enforcement Training for 7 years at CCC&TI. Andy led with quiet strength and compassion, shaping both the town he served and the people who served with him. Beyond the badge, Andy was a man of many gifts. A talented musician, he found tremendous joy playing guitar and singing--often using his talents to encourage and bless others. He helped start a gospel group with his friends called The Pine Mountain Boys. He was a huge part of Clearview Baptist Church, where he led music, played guitar, bass and helped us all sing for Jesus! He was also a wonderful Sunday School teacher, who taught with grace and warmth that marked every part of his life. He could always make you laugh with his stories, as there was an endless supply of them. Andy found peace in the outdoors, especially during deer and turkey season. He was a man of deep love--unshakable in his devotion to his family, his faith, and his calling to serve. His kindness, laughter, and steady presence were gifts to everyone who knew him.
Andy is preceded in death by his father, the late Garland Day, his grandparents the late Howard and Bessie Sutton.
Those left to cherish Andy’s memory are his beloved wife of 26 years, Donna, with children Robert Annas (Chasity), Megan Sprinkle (Jonathan) and granddaughter’s Cecilia, Amelia, Roslynn, and Allie; his mother, Shirley Sutton Day, brother Geoff (Angie), two special nephews, Landon (Tori), great nephew Lawson, and Grayson (Reagan), brother Reggie (Brandy), Amber, Caleb, Maicy, and Shelby.
A service to celebrate Andy’s life will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 2:00 at the Hub in Hudson with Pastor Geoff Day and Pastor Nicky Waters officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 at the Hub in Hudson. Burial will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Heaven has gained a new guitar player and singer. And we will miss him greatly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clearview Baptist Church; PO Box 535 Hudson, NC 28638.
