Annie Beora Smith

Morganton, NC- Mrs. Annie Beora Smith, age 99, of Morganton, died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at her home. Born March 28, 1910 in Wilkes County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Mark L. and Emma Jane Shepherd Adkins and the wife of the late George H. Smith. Mrs. Smith was a member of Antioch Baptist Church for 82 years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and loved her family. During World War II she worked for Kent Coffey and Drexel Furniture. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 4 daughters, Flossie Smith, Josephine Smith, Pauline Smith and Francis L. Fox; one infant son, and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by 5 daughters, Emma Jane Wilcox and husband Charlie of Morganton; Shelby J. Hoke and husband Max of Morganton; Betty Lou Reid and husband William of Hickory; Janie A. Richardson and husband Lowell of Morganton; Judy S. Williams and husband Richard of Morganton; 2 sons, George H. Smith, Jr. and wife Loretta of Morganton; Vernon L. Smith of Morganton and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mrs. Smith?s life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Conley Matlock, Reverend Aldean Wheeler and Eric Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 6 until 8 PM at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Eric Smith, Danny Wilcox, Chris Barrier, Henry Braswell, Don Horton and Rob Sohl. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Scott Triplett and Todd Triplett.
