Lenoir – Austin Keshaun Roberts, age 19, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016. He was a 2015 graduate of West Caldwell High School and was employed with MDI. Austin had recently enlisted with the United States Marines and was scheduled to begin his career in January in the field of diesel mechanics. Austin was an avid fisherman and was crazy about cars. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, caring young man that never met a stranger and positively impacted the lives of those he met. Austin was born in Catawba County on July 4, 1997 to Carol Dula and Austin Roberts. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Nancy Grier. He is survived by his mother, Carol Dula and step-father, James Dula; father, Austin Roberts; sister, Felisha Smith; brothers, Allen Dula and Kendall Roberts; grandparents, Janice and Robert Smith; Sarah Dula; Nellie Wright; his loving girlfriend, Jorgie Chandler; aunts and uncles, Todd and Trina Smith; Chad Smith; Tommy Dula; Kimberly Roberts; Angie Roberts; Asanta Roberts; Melanie Roberts, Stephanie Roberts; and special thanks to Uncle Monk and Jean and Uncle Thomas; cousins, Courtney, Hannah and Dillon Smith; India Shenck; Trevon Edwards; Manny Garcia; Tiffany Elliott; Hunter, Porter and Noah Smith; Quinn Roberts; nephew, Jayce Dula; and a special thanks to Big Austin’s friends, Jeremy Petty, Ricky Deal and Sterling Phillips. A celebration of Austin’s life will be held at Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 4:00 PM with Pastor John Smiley officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 prior to the service.
