Azalee Livingston Brookshire

April 21, 1939 — April 6, 2026

Azalee Brookshire, lived a life marked by grace, generosity, and unwavering faith. Born on April 21, 1939, in North Carolina to the late William Albert and Kate Livingston. She passed away at her home on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the age of 86.

In addition to her parents, Azalee is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Brookshire, and her brothers Terry and Curt Livingston. Her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication continues through her cherished children: Kevin Brookshire (Trudy), Kaye Ferree (Bob), and Kelli Gracely (Kevin). Her unconditional love also enveloped her adored grandchildren: Kaylee Brookshire, Shelby Brookshire (Jordan Kelber), Daniel Ferree, Meredith Ferree, Johnny Gracely, and Camille Gracely. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends will fondly remember Azalee and her profound impact on their lives.

A proud alumna of Kings Creek High School's Class of 1957, Azalee furthered her education at Clevenger Business College. Her professional journey began at the Bank of Lenoir. After 14 years in the banking industry, Azalee devoted nine years to nurturing and raising her family as a homemaker. In 1981, she accepted a part-time position as the church secretary at Kings Creek Baptist Church, where she faithfully served for 41 years. Her career also included contributions to D.R. Kincaid Chair Company until 1992. She served her community as a talented seamstress and a notary public.

Central to Azalee's life was her steadfast faith in the Lord. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In later years, when she was unable to physically attend services, she would live stream them. Her family, particularly her grandchildren, were the treasures of her heart. Azalee's hobbies were gardening, canning vegetables, and cooking. An avid reader in her later years, she was celebrated for her sharp intellect and meticulous nature.

She will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her.
