Upton Place– Bela Isaac McLean, age 90, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk. He was born August 8, 1925 in Caldwell County. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Bell Potter McLean and he was the son of the late Homer and Stella Andrews McLean. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Jasper McLean, James McLean, and Carl McLean. He is survived by his children Jerry and wife Sandra McLean, Wanda and husband Chuck Scragg, Charles McLean and Jack and wife Debbie McLean. The special joys of his life were his grandchildren Leslie and husband Josh Taylor and Christan McLean. Mr. McLean had three great-grandchildren; Isaiah Michael Simmons, Cameron Jacob McLean and Karter Jace McLean. Mr. McLean was a life-long member of John’s River Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, as well as song leader and Sunday School Superintendant. He retired after 40 years employment with Broyhill Furniture. A celebration of Bela’s life will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Johns River Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend David Gragg, Reverend Jack Lewis and Reverend Ricky Crisp officiating. Internment will immediately follow the funeral service at Globe Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to the John’s River Baptist Church Building Fund, 5811 Upton Place, Lenoir, NC 28645.
