Betty Sue Cannon

Granite Falls– Mrs. Betty Sue Cannon, age 80, of Granite Falls, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.Born July 26, 1935 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Pinkney and Fannie Morris Cannon and wife of the late Ralph James “Jim” Cannon to whom they shared 59 years of marriage. Mrs. Cannon truly loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.She was a lifelong member of Dry Ponds Baptist Church.She loved crocheting and making clothes for her family.She had retired as a seamstress in the hosiery industry. Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by five brothers, Lloyd, Ralph, Frank, Ulysses and J.D. Cannon and three sisters, Ruth Spann, Edith Parlier and Ila Mae Cannon. Mrs. Cannon is survived by her five children, Dennis Cannon and wife Sherry of Bethlehem; Donald Cannon of Granite Falls; Melba Atkinson and husband Alex of Newton; Brenda Killian and husband Billy of Taylorsville; Lorraine Burns and husband Bill of Granite Falls; three sisters, Ruby Allard, of Redding, CA; Lucy Dula of Tacoma, WA; Myrtle Helton of Dudley Shoals; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dry Ponds Baptist Church Building Fund, 5235 Union Church Road, Granite Falls, NC28630 or Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC28645. Pallbearers will be:Robbie Atkinson, Chris Cannon, Travis Walker, Buddy Carson, Brett Marley and Carroll Cannon.Honorary Pallbearers will be the Koinonia Sunday School Class. Receiving will be held Monday, November 2, 2015 at Dry Ponds Baptist Church from 6:00 until 7:30 PM.Funeral Services to be held at Dry Ponds Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 3:30 PM with Reverend Dr. Rick Crouse, Reverend Josh Dellinger and Reverend Don Ingle officiating.Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
