Betty Grey Knight Spengler

Bolivia, NC- Betty Grey Knight Spengler, age 77, of Bolivia, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born September 14, 1932 in Caldwell County, Mrs. Spengler was a daughter of the late David Albert and Lelia Mae Arney Knight and the wife of the late Stanley Claire Spengler. Other than her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Gene ?Junior? Clark and two brothers, Billy Joe Knight and Jay Olin Knight. Mrs. Spengler was retired from CP & L in Southport, NC and a member of Whitnel United Methodist Church in Lenoir. She is survived by 4 sisters, Mrs. T.L. (Leola) Ashley of Sunset Harbor, NC; Mrs. John V. (Callie) Brown, Mrs. Charles (Doris) Van Dyke and Mrs. Dennis (Shirley) Craig, Sr., all of Lenoir; two Grandchildren, Lacey Clark of Lenoir; Kellie Thompson and husband Alan of Houston, TX; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Avery and Garrett Thompson of Houston, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mrs. Spengler?s life will be conducted Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 11 AM in The Chapel of Evans Funeral Service and Crematory with Reverend David Luckadoo officiating. Burial will follow in Colliers United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 2, 2009 from 10 until 11 AM, one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be: Richard Craig, Jr., Greg Van Dyke, Kelly Van Dyke, Robert Hanks, James Hanks and Harold Stallings. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Charles Van Dyke, John V. Brown, T.L. Ashley, Dennis Craig and Dan Earman.
