Betty Pope

Granite Falls– Mrs. Betty Berry Pope, age 74, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Burke County on July 23, 1941 to the late Edgar Berry and Ollie Brown Berry. She was married to Jerry T. Pope “J.T.” for more than 54 years. Mrs. Pope retired with more than 40 years of service from Valdese Manufacturing. She was a member of both Dry Ponds Baptist Church and Flat Gap Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her children, Jerry L. Pope and Debra Jean Pope. Other than her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Coldiron and husband, Robert of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Jerry DeWayne Pope; brothers, Doyle Berry and Buford Berry and wife, Pat; sister, Linda White; grandchildren, Macey Lauren Coldiron, Lindsay Pope, Logan Pope, and Presley Pope; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Pope’s life will be held at Dry Ponds Baptist Church on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Don Ingle and Pastor Josh Dellinger officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Flat Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Valdese. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
