Betty Ward

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Ward, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, who left this world on Sunday, April 12th, 2026, at the age of 63. Betty was born on Sunday, August 12th, 1962, in the peaceful surroundings of Watauga County, NC. Most recently, she resided in Lenoir, NC, where she built a life filled with love, compassion, and faith.

Betty dedicated much of her life to serving others, especially through her work in the Women's Prison Ministry. Her steadfast faith and unwavering commitment to helping those in need touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on her community.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Dean Ward, who stood by her side through all of life's adventures. Together, they raised wonderful children: James Ward, Kimberly Brown, Jesse Ward, along with his wife Tiffany. Betty was also a proud and doting grandmother to 11 beloved grandchildren. She leaves behind her sister, Brenda Harmon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom cherished her dearly.

Betty is reunited with her brother, David Church, and her sister, Martha Stout, who preceded her in death.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:00 PM until the time of the service to pay their respects and share cherished memories. Burial will immediately follow the service at Laurel Haven Cemetery in Lenoir.

Betty Ward will be dearly missed but never forgotten, as her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
