Billy "Bill" Joe Shew

Billy “Bill” Joe Shew, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2026.

Bill was born May 12, 1935, to the late Joe and Vaudie Shew.

In addition to Bill’s parents, he is preceded in death by his children Randy Shew and Kathy Kidd, brother, Robert Shew; sister, Sharon Campbell, and cousins, Earl Moore, Albert Woods and Gene Woods.

Those left to cherish Bill’s memory are his wife, Tammy Shew; children, Larry Shew (Sharon), Belinda Chatham (Thomas); Wanda; step children, Helen Coffey (Anthony) and William Engstrom; grandchildren, Dalton, Payton, Vanessa, Amanda; sisters, Enna Queen, Pat Clark; and numerous other loved grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill was a wonderful man. He loved working on forklifts and lawnmowers. Bill loved fishing, going out to eat, riding to the mountains, and above all he loved the Lord.

Bill will be missed tremendously by his wife, Tammy, and by many others.

A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in the Chapel Evans Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bill Bentley and Pastor Hubert Shew officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Harpers Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1360 State Road 1560 Lenoir, NC 28645.
