Brian James Overton

Brian James Overton, 39, of Lenoir, NC, passed away January 4, 2026, of natural causes. He was born in Gwinnett County, GA, in 1986, but moved with his family to Lenoir in 1995.

He followed his various interests as vocations, most recently as a chef at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Morganton where he was loved by the students who enjoyed his cooking. He also had a business in reptiles and exotic insects that he ran from his home, shipping all over the country. He loved fishing and bicycles for recreation.

He is survived by his parents, Bob and Kay Overton of Lenoir, and his sisters, Grawyn Miller (Matthew) of Lenoir and Caitlin Green (Daniel) of Hickory, NC, as well as his nieces and a nephew.

A receiving will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 2:00PM at Calvary Advent Christian Church in Lenoir followed by a memorial service at 3:00PM at the church. There will not be a graveside service.
