Christa Darlene Case Hall

February 24, 1959 — January 4, 2026

Christa Darlene Case Hall, 66, of Clyde, passed away on January 4, 2026.

Darlene believed deeply in the importance of family and was a dedicated mother to her two children. She will be remembered as a woman who worked tirelessly to make sure everyone around her felt loved and appreciated — whether through a handwritten note, homemade baked good, or a big hug.

In 1998, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. In the decades that followed, she worked at several hospitals in the Greater Hickory area — including Caldwell Memorial Hospital, Catawba Valley Medical Center, and Frye Regional Medical Center — and was a travel nurse in the Washington, D.C. area. Earlier in her career, she served as a teaching assistant at Hudson Elementary School.

As a nurse, a mother, and a member of her church, she led with a servant’s heart. She was a woman of faith, a woman of character, a woman of light and love, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Zeb Henry Smith; grandmother, Frankie Teague Smith; mother, Mary Jane Case; and father, Robert Eugene Case, all of Haywood County; her sister-in-law Lynette Messer Case, of Greenville; and her uncle Keith Smith (Tracy), of Greensboro.

She is survived by her children Casey Sherrill (Michael), of Hudson, and Megan Bruffy (Trevor), of Deep Gap; her grandchildren, Lucas, Emmalyn, Annabelle, and Jackson; her brothers, Tony Case, of Mount Holly, and Marcus Case, of Etowah; her aunt Shirley Ingle, of White Pine, Tennessee; her uncles, Michael Zeb Smith (Barbara), of Gold Canyon, Arizona; and her nephew Matthew Case, of Greenville; and her niece Hannah Case (Katharine), of Reidville, South Carolina.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12:00–2:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. John’s Lutheran Church (352 Central St, Hudson, NC 28638). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
