Christopher James Blair

Christopher James Blair of Lenoir entered the Church Triumphant on Friday, July 17, at the age of 51. Chris was born May 8, 1975 to James Edward Blair and Kaye Mason Blair. Chris is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Blair. He is survived by his mother Kaye Mason Blair, brother Jon and wife Melanie Blair, niece Madelyn (Mads) Blair, and nephew Joshua Blair, all of Lenoir. He is also survived by his uncles and aunts, Ed and Sandy Blair, Bob Blair, Tom and Becky Whisnant, Jack and Debbie Mason, and Steve and Sheryl Knupp, as well as many loving cousins.

Chris was a graduate of Hibriten High School and attended Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute. In addition, he was a member of Lenoir Kiwanis Club where he served faithfully for many years. Chris loved his family and was a devout caregiver and buddy to his mom Kaye. Daily you could see him riding into Lenoir with his mom to help her run errands and attend to others. He enjoyed yardwork and was always there to help his mom and brother with daily tasks. Chris had many hobbies and loved to listen to a variety of music, especially the Beatles. With a mind that was like a walking google encyclopedia and such an astute memory, Chris could sing all the songs in their catalog. He could always tell you about upcoming music albums or movies and when they were coming out. He also liked to read about farm animals, snakes, and places to travel. He treasured time with his family going on trips to the beach and the mountains and was always up for the opportunity to swim and fish. He experienced joy in the simple things in life.

Chris was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Lenoir. The church was an important part of his life. Chris was a servant, willing to jump in and do anything for anyone who needed a hand. He and his mom came to the church several days a week and spent many hours serving the church. With a joyful smile on his face, he humbly served by greeting members as they came in the door, assisting members to their car, ringing the bell at each service, making sure lights were on and off, preparing the candles, helping with yardwork, taking out the trash, and decorating for special occasions. He was an integral part of the church family and a wonderful role model of how to give of our gifts to serve the Lord and others.

Chris had a gentle, sweet spirit and a giving heart and truly loved his friends and family. He possessed a strong, childlike faith and was a fine Christian example to those around him. He showed his faith as a true servant to all. Chris loved people and was loved by all. He truly had a wonderful life!

The service will be held on Saturday, July 25 at 12:00 p.m. with receiving held prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Lenoir. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Daniel Duke. Graveside rites will be at Bellview Cemetery following the service.
