Daniel "Danny" Willie Martin II, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the age of 67. He was welcomed into the world on a serene Sunday, January 26, 1958, in Caldwell County, North Carolina, the beloved son of Ina Walsh Martin and the late Daniel W. Martin.
Danny spent his life spreading joy and laughter, known to many as a jovial spirit and an enthusiastic instigator. His love for life extended into the great outdoors, where he relished camping trips, low country boils, wings, playing cornhole, and savoring margaritas with friends and family. Those who knew him will fondly remember his famous cornbread pancakes and myriad of loving traits that he freely shared.
Beyond his playful humor, Danny's heart was as vast as the open road he traveled during his career as a long-distance truck driver—a job that encapsulated both his love for adventure and his dedication to providing for his loved ones.
Danny was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Willie Martin, and his cherished daughter, Lindsey Ryan Bennett, whose memories he carried with him.
Left to honor his memory are his devoted wife, Tammy Oxentine Martin of Lenoir, NC; his loving mother, Ina Walsh Martin; his sons, Daniel Willie Martin III, Trey Andrew Martin, and Timothy Chad Mohar (and wife Stacie); his sister, Renee Martin Smith, and Greg Shull; brother Neal Martin and his wife Beth; as well as Mary and Bob Choate. Danny was the adored grandfather of Lyllian Coral Martin, Landon Martin, Mya Elaine Martin, and Elijah Payten Bennett. Numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive him, carrying forward the warmth and love he shared throughout his lifetime.
In celebration of Danny’s vibrant life, a memorial service will be held at the Evans Funeral Service Chapel on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Dr. Joshua D. Hughes will honor Danny's memory with heartfelt words, and the family will warmly welcome friends immediately following the service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Evans Funeral Service & Crematory, reflecting the family's wishes with dignity and respect.
Danny will be deeply missed, but his legacy of laughter, love, and life’s simple joys will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
