David Wayne Richards

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of David Wayne Richards, at the age of 68, on October 15, 2026, at his residence in Lenoir, North Carolina. Born in Caldwell County, NC, on December 24, 1957, David was the beloved son of Norma Jean Davis Richards and the late Melvin Richards.

David dedicated his life to serving his community and his country. He was proud to have been a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard, where he committed himself to the duty and responsibility of service. He later pursued a career as an exterminator for A-1 Termite Pest Control.

Known for his love of the great outdoors, David cherished the time he spent fishing and camping, passions that he shared with friends and family. Whether casting a line in John's River or setting up camp under the stars, he found peace and joy in nature’s company.

David's memory will be cherished by his loving family, including his devoted mother, Norma Jean Davis Richards; his children, Harley Richards, and Nick Richards, along with his wife, Katie. He is also survived by his brother, John Richards, his wife, Cindy, and their daughter, Gracie; and family members Kim, David, and Ben Annas.

To honor David’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held to celebrate his life and legacy.

David Wayne Richards will be missed dearly by all who knew him, but his spirit, kindness, and love for adventure will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
