Granite Falls, NC—Deloris Willadean Howell, a beloved and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9th, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on Thursday, February 24th, 1949, in North Carolina, Willa lived a life full of love, elegance, and dedication to her family and friends.

A true North Carolinian, Willa carried the warmth and grace of her Southern roots throughout her life. Known affectionately as "Mama" by those who loved her, Willa was a paragon of style and sophistication. She adored getting manicures and pedicures and never stepped outside without her hair and makeup impeccably done. Willa instilled these values of self-care and style in her daughter, Stephanie, teaching her the art of makeup with dedication. Her outfits were always perfectly accessorized with matching shoes, a testament to her keen eye for fashion.

Willa was a woman of deep faith, practicing the Baptist faith throughout her life. Her career spanned over decades, beginning with Sealed Air, where she made indelible friendships, particularly with her longtime friend, Judy Richardson. Later she worked 13 years at the Broyhill main office in the Dealer Services department.

A gifted cook, Willa's kitchen was always filled with delightful aromas and delectable dishes. She was also a dedicated and enthusiastic supporter of her daughter Renee's softball games, cheering passionately from the sidelines. Willa loved shopping excursions, shared numerous cups of McDonald's coffee with Judy, and was always ready for a trip to TCBY for a sweet treat.

Willa is preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Elliott Howell, her parents Jesse Monroe and Cora Ann Miller Conley, her brother Jesse Joe Conley, and sister Bettie Conley Morris. She leaves behind her loving daughter Renee Ann Conner of Granite Falls, NC, her daughter Stephanie Hall and son-in-law Jimmy Hall of Granite Falls, NC, her step-daughter, Sherri of Alabama, her cherished granddaughter Ashley Greene, and great-granddaughter Brianna Greene, both of Granite Falls, NC. Willa also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom will dearly miss her.
