Dennis Carroll Smith

Dennis Carroll Smith, 62, of the Blue Creek area of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Before his illness, Dennis worked at Hickory Springs Manufacturing. Earlier in his life, he worked at The Dairy Freeze, where many remember him from his time there. He was a hardworking man who took pride in doing his job well.

Dennis was a devoted father and took great pride in his son, Jonathan L. Smith of Hudson, North Carolina. His love for his son was constant, and being a father was one of the most important parts of his life.

He enjoyed working on old cars and spending time in his garage, and he appreciated the simple comforts of everyday life.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Carrol L. Smith and Carolyn J. Smith; his brother, Michael A. Smith; and his sister, Donna R. Smith.

He is survived by his son, Jonathan L. Smith; his brother, Mark T. Smith; and extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly.

A funeral service will be held on February 28, 2026, at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir, North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and services will follow at 3:00 pm.

Dennis will be remembered for his steady presence, his work ethic, and the love he had for his family.
