Dickie Hodge

Dickie Hodge, 87, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, leaving behind a life filled with family, love, and a personality that was unmistakably his own.

He had a childlike humor and a kind and giving heart. He was a humble man of few words who enjoyed the simple things in life.

During his younger years, Dickie loved to play softball for the local rec furniture teams and spent many hours in his downtime playing softball with family and friends.

He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was their biggest fan, especially when he was sitting on the sidelines watching them perform. Whether it was a big game, a choral concert or dance recital, pawpaw showed up with pride and a grin that said he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

At home, he found comfort in the simple things—reruns of The Andy Griffith Show, listening to gospel music and watching classic cartoons. Those small pleasures painted the rhythm of his days and brought him a sense of peace and familiarity.

He is survived by his daughters Donna Whittington, Lisa Campbell (Freddie), Angie Ford (Lyle) and Jennifer Hodge, who will forever remember his unwavering love. Dickie was also the proud grandfather of twelve and great grandfather of sixteen. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mildred, two sons, Stanley Hodge and Ricky Hodge and his brothers, Tim, Bill, Jim and one sister Volena.

A graveside service will be held for Dickie on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Blueridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, NC at 2:00 PM with Pastor James Wilfong officiating.
