Dollie Mae Blake

November 8, 1937 — March 28, 2026

Dollie Mae Blake, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted servant of the Lord, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on November 8, 1937, in West Virginia to the late J.C. and Edna Bean, Dollie lived a life full of faith, dedication, and love.

A woman of deep spiritual conviction, Dollie was a pillar in her church community. She served faithfully for many years as the treasurer at Trinity Baptist Church and was a beloved member of Heavenly Hope Baptist Church. Her commitment to her faith extended beyond her local church; she diligently supported missionaries. She read her bible daily while eating her oatmeal and drinking her coffee. She always prayed over every meal naming her family one by one.

Dollie's life was one of service and perseverance. After the passing of her husband, Edgar Blake, she resumed her education, achieving both a high school diploma and an Associate's Degree in Medical Terminology. Because of her age, it was hard for Dollie to find a job in the field and she went to work in the accounting department at Bernhardt Furniture Company, from which she retired.

Family was the cornerstone of Dollie's world. She leaves behind her daughters, Bea Phelps (Keith) and Martha Ford (Mark); her sons, James Blake (Cindy) and Michael Blake (Donna); and a legacy of love through her grandchildren—Andrew, Hannah (Jason), Mackenzie (Beverly), Kevin (Mikayla), Kristen, Ben (Angie), Ashley (T.J.), Olivia, Misty, Jessica, JR, Teresa—and her many great and great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Dollie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edgar Blake; brother, Johnny Bean; sister, Lula Bell McGee; and daughter, Mary Soots.

A celebration of Dollie's life will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service, with Pastor Keith Phelps and Pastor Larry Marley officiating. The family will welcome friends and loved ones for a visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, preceding the service. Interment will follow the ceremony at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.

Serving as pallbearers are Jason Hollar, Bruce Crump, Robert Hatley, Seth Leger, Billy Miller, and Dewey Raby.

Arrangements for Dollie Mae Blake's service are gracefully provided by Evans Funeral Service & Crematory. Dollie's life was a living testimony of love and faith, and her legacy will continue to be felt by all who were touched by her prayers and guidance.
