Hudson – Donald J.”Sarge” Golds, age 51, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on June 4, 1964 to Joseph Matthew Golds, Sr. and the late Sylvia Osborne Golds. He was married to Tammy Murphy Golds of the residence. Don enlisted in the Army after graduating high school and later, after the events of September 11, 2001, made the decision to reenlist in the Army National Guard. He was a combat veteran in the campaign in Iraq where he sustained serious combat injuries for which he was awarded a Purple Heart. In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his son, Matthew Golds; daughter, Brooke Golds; sister, Betsy Golds Richards and husband, Mike; brother, Joseph Matthew Golds, Jr.; and his best friend, Eric Bellas. A celebration of Don’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Horace Minton officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors presented by the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard with the National Guard. Pallbearers will be Eric Bellas, Hunter Livingston, Ray Price, Hunter Hefner, Gunner Marcus and Travis Wright. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 prior to the service.
