Donald “Nokie” Ray Maddy Nokie was born into this world on March 17, 1954 in Radford, Virginia; to the late Horace Maddy and Katherine Cox Maddy. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 29, 2021. Those left to cherish his memories include his loving companion and best friend of 44 years, Kathy Burns. Daughter, Melissa Kay and (spouse) Shawn Jones. Dawn and (spouse) Carroll Owens. Grandkids, Brittany and (spouse) Tom Deeley, Taylor and (spouse) Dillon Smith, and Jacob Jones. One sister Linda and (spouse) Ron Triplett. There are also multiple special nieces and nephews. Don retired from Bellsouth and Ryder Logistics where he was always a hard worker and instilled a good work ethic for his family. He was a very talented musician and loved to get together with family and friends to make some “noise”. He loved to spend time outdoors and always hoped to get in a game of tennis. He was always willing to lend a hand or provide knowledge to anyone who needed it. From beaches to deserts or anywhere in between, he loved vacations and making great memories with his family. To find him relaxing, which was rare; you could look out by the pool and find him in his hammock. From all his great abilities and special moments we all shared, he will be greatly missed until we can meet again up there! A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
