Donald Smith

Hudson, NC- Mr. Donald Marcus Smith, Jr., age 54, of Hudson, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born March 1, 1962 in Chester, PA, Donald was a son of Donald Smith, Sr. and the late Marlyn Robinson. He was a mechanic and loved working on old cars. He enjoyed attending car shows and racing. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elouise Smith. In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Gail Smith of the Home; his step children, Nathan McCall (wife Laura) of Hudson, and Gina Settlemyre (husband Scott) of Burke County; a brother, Woodrow Smith of Morganton; a special cousin, Richard Murphy of Hudson; six grandchildren, Scott Calloway, Johnny Calloway, Shane Calloway, Ryan Settlemyre, Lana McCall and Dylan McCall; four great grandchildren, Macie Calloway, Lexis Calloway, Easton Calloway and Kinsley Calloway; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Donald’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Glenn Walker and Gene Carpenter officiating.
