Doreen Smith

Lenoir- Mrs. Doreen Davey Smith, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Yorkshire, England on September 26, 1930 to the late John and Annie Davey. Doreen was retired from Grand Manor Furniture and was an active member of Union Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed music, especially Gospel singing, shopping and traveling to the beach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Smith; brother, Leslie Davey; and her sister, Patricia Caverly. Doreen is survived by her son, Graham Aldridge and wife, Shirley; daughter, Lorraine Sherrill and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Crystal Beckel; Jamie Aldridge; Brandon Sherrill and Brett Sherrill; great-grandchildren, Savannah Aldridge; Isabella Beckel and Molly Sherrill. Also, her extended family members in England consisting of 2 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Doreen will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 6:30 PM with Pastor Sam Craven and Pastor John Jernigan officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The family asks that memorial donations (expression of sympathy) be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 1808 Union Grove Road, Lenoir, NC28645.
