Doris Inez Jewell Mcfarlin

The funeral for Doris Inez Jewell McFarlin of Morganton will be conducted at 4 pm, Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church by Bro. Ronnie L. Jewell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 pm prior to the service and at other times at the home of daughter DeAnna Chester. Mrs. McFarlin died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late James Lewis and Viola Inez Woods Jewell, and her son, Jeffrey Neil Hawn. She was born Sept. 26, 1945, in Laurens, S.C., and retired from the hosiery industry. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved New York City, the beach, black coffee and shopping for shoes. Surviving are her husband Billy H. McFarlin; daughters DeAnna Hawn Chester and husband John of Lenoir and Donna Kay Hawn Huffman of Hickory; grandchildren Henry James “Jake” White, V of Rhodhiss, Wesley Neil White of Lenoir, and Kadee Elizabeth Huffman of Hickory; brother Ronnie L. Jewell and wife Nadine of Lenoir; sister Barbara J. Huskey and husband Edward of Lenoir; a number of nieces and nephews; and stepchildren William O. McFarlin and wife Sheila and C. Margo McFarlin of Morganton.
