Dorothy Hamby

Dorothy Hamby, 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Dorothy was born on November 22, 1936, to the late Willard and Lucy Prestwood.

In addition to Dorothy’s parents, she is preceded in death her husband, Bill Foster; seven sisters, and one brother.

Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her children, Bobby Hamby, Don Hamby (Cathy), granddaughter, Kaetlyn Passmore (Dylan), great grandson, Blake, sister, Lillian and numerous loved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with family.

A graveside service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kevin Burns officiating.
