Lenoir- Mrs. Clara Ellen Tolbert Shell, age 80, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Taylorsville House Memory Care in Taylorsville surrounded by her children.Born March 8, 1935 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Jiles Dow and Edith Bernice Hartley Tolbert and the wife of the late Glenn Clinton Shell, Jr. Other than her husband and parents she is preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Moore; two brothers, Lloyd and Boyd Tolbert and two sisters, Ernestine Edmisten and Joyce Bolick. Mrs. Shell was a retired furniture worker and a member of Grandview Park Baptist Church.She was a former resident of Koinonia in Lenoir, a 1953 graduate of Kings Creek High School and an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball Fan. Mrs. Shell is survived by her five children, Paula Shell Harrington of North Wilkesboro; Kathy Keever of Taylorsville; Michael Shell and wife Tammy of Taylorsville; Libby Shell Moore and husband Jerry of Surgoinsville, TN; Pam Douglas and husband Randy of Lenoir; four sisters, Catherine Anderson and husband Dennis of Waldorf, MD; Ruth Watson of Waldorf, MD; Lea Walsh of Laurens, SC; Grace McLemore of Hickory; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir, Friday October 2, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
