Elmer Hollars

Lenoir- Elmer Dennis Hollars, age 83, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Watauga County on March 15, 1938 to the late Vernon and Dora Mae Hollars. He was married for over 58 years to Sarah Sumpter Hollars of the residence. Elmer was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church, and avid fisherman and he loved to hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Hollars and Ermal Hollars and his sister, Lois Bolick. Other than his wife, he is survived by his son, Joey Hollars and wife, Rhonda; daughter, Julie Hollars; grandchildren, Caleb Hollars and Jacob Hollars; brothers, Henry Hollars; and Billy Hollars; sisters, Amy Fowler; Fannie Jean Bryant; Christine Bolick; and Shirley Swanson; and numerous other family members. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow the visitation at St. Marks Lutheran Church Cemetery.
