Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Emogene “Jean” Greer Whisnant, age 67, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. Mrs. Whisnant was born in Watauga County on October 10, 1943 to the late Walter P. Greer and Leona Greer Harmon . She was married to Terry S. Whisnant of the home. Mrs. Whisnant was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Darrell L. Berry and her step-father, Elbert Harmon. Other than her husband, she is survived by her son, William G. “Bill” Berry of Lenoir; daughter, Karen K. Mast and husband, Edward of Patterson; daughter, Sharon B. Wynn of Collettsville; daughter, Terri Crystal Whisnant-Reyes and husband, Eustolia Reyes of Lenoir; brothers, Ernest and Ronnie Greer; sister, Donna Kirby; grandchildren, Melissa Berry Townsend, William “Bill” Berry, Adam Berry, Dylan Berry, Nathan Berry, Jamey Wynn, Jorden Wynn Robinson, Jacob Reyes and Lily Reyes; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Whisnant’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 1:00. Reverend Daniel Buchanan will officiate the service. Interment will be held in the Whisnant Family Cemetery at 3:00. Pallbearers will be: Adam, Nathan, Dylan, and William P. Berry, Mike Gragg and Eustolio Reyes. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service. The family respectfully requests that memorials be sent to: Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
