Eric Austin

Mr. Eric Lynn Austin, age 72, of Lenoir passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at his home.

Born April 25, 1950 in Caldwell County, Eric was a son of the late Atwell and Treva Bolick Austin.  Eric was a truck driver for Caldwell Freight Lines for over 25 years.  He was a volunteer fireman with Hudson Volunteer Fire Department.  Eric had also worked as a security guard with Griffin Security.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Karen Lambert; a brother, David Austin; a great grandson, Jayden Roush; a nephew, Matthew Lambert.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Brenda Smith Austin; three daughters, Hope Celeste Austin Atwood (husband Terry), Kelly Austin Phillips (husband Michael) and Wendy Austin Jones; his step children, Wendy McDade, William Arney and Michelle Holman (husband Johnny); his siblings, Faye Edwards (husband Leonard), Laura Hammerick (husband Ray) and Gloria Robinson (husband Don); he is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives.

A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service at 1:00 PM.  Officiating will be Pastor Rufus Edmisten, Pastor Fred Stapleton and Pastor Seth Avery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

The family will also receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
