Lenoir - On Thursday, December 28, Ernol Lee (Ernie) Allen went to meet his Lord and Savior while at the Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.He was born on January 15, 1945 in Ashe County to the late Tway E. Allen and Mary Osborne Allen. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Dean Allen and Robert Allen and his sister, Carolyn Handy.Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Regina Dula Allen; one son, Ryan Allen and wife Sarah; two grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Allen; and one niece, Rhonda Mitchell. Ernie was noted for his classic cars and owned and operated Classic Molding and Trim Restoration of Lenoir.He was a graduate of Happy Valley High School, attended Caldwell Community College and worked for Singer Furniture for over forty years. Always an active church member, Ernie shared his talent of playing the piano at Green Mountain Baptist Church.He later joined the Lenoir First Wesleyan Church where he was currently a member.There he served as a teacher, usher, and board member. Services will be held on Monday, January 1, 2018, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service.The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.Officiating the service will be Pastor James Baker and Reverend Brent Dula.Burial will follow at Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery.Pallbearers are Trevor Allen, Tyler Allen, Eddie Cheek, Tim Clark, Greg Drum, Russell Dula, Dwight Watts and Bill Roark.Honorary pallbearers are Mark Bottoms, Roger Dula, Todd Hady and Dana Crump. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lenoir First Wesleyan Church, 906 Creekway Drive NW, Lenoir, NC 28645 or Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St, Lenoir, NC 28645.
