Esther Marie Bowers

Lenoir- Esther Marie Rash Bowers, age 95, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born on March 9, 1923 in Iredell County, Esther was the daughter of the late Clarence and Eva Mae Rash. She enjoyed shopping, reading, flowers, birds, sitting in the sun andspending time with her family.She also loved cooking and was known for her fantastic desserts.She had a big heart and always thought of others before herself.She was well loved by her family and friends and gave plenty of love in return. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sanford Bowers , two brothers, Dewey and Roy Rash, three sisters, Eula Parsons,Beulah Church, and Viola Martin and one grandson, Bradley Bowers. She is survived by her children, Yvonne Price, Eugene Bowers and wife Karen, Freida Owens and husband Kent, Dean Bowers and Eva Whisnant, 10 Grandchildren, 13 Great- Grandchildren , 2 great-great -grandchildren and two sisters, Gertrude Church and Ellen Gallihar, and numerous other relatives. A Celebration of Esther's Life will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service, with Rev. Brooks Kirby of Welcome Home Baptist Church officiating.An Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 until 12:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be considered to the Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC28645.
