Eugene Murphy

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Eugene Murphy, age 77, of Lenoir, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir. Born May 8, 1934 in Wapanucka, OK, Eugene was a son of the late William “Big” and Bessie Gibson Murphy. Eugene was an Air Force veteran who served for 22 years where he was an A-1 Mechanic. He enjoyed watching birds, watching ballgames, and swinging in his swing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chris Murphy. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Suddreth Murphy of the home; two sons, Bill Murphy and Mike Murphy; a daughter, Susan Greene; and three grandsons, Thomas, Joey and Phillip. A graveside celebration of Eugene’s life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:30 AM in the Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Service and Crematory prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Online condolences may be sent to www.evansfuneralservice.com.
