Hickory, NC- Faye Cook Pilkenton, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Lutheran Home of Hickory-West. She was born on September 24, 1915 in Caldwell County to the late Dan B. Cook and Allie Frances Shell Cook. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was very active in WMU. Faye was a very special lady, always taking care of everyone, before herself. She was a caregiver at heart and a servant of God. She used every opportunity to tell other about Jesus. She loved her church and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She loved to entertain with her poems , stories, and skits. During her high school years she was chosen to go to Greensboro to perform in a play. She continued to use this gift to witness to others and make people laugh. Faye was ready to meet her Savior and the first thing she wanted to do was be at the feet of her Master when she got to Heaven. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dwight Cook and Shell Cook; and a granddaughter, Emily Wilson. She is survived by her daughter, Bunny Cotten and husband, Skip of Bethlehem; son, Eric Pilkenton and wife, Linda of Lenoir; sister, Margaret ?Maggie? Tuttle of Lenoir; grandchildren, David Wilson, Danny Wilson, Nate Wilson, and Gloria Raza; great-grandchildren, Joshua Wilson, Jonathon Wilson, Thomas Wilson, Matthew Wilson, and Lewis Wilson. A celebration of Ms. Pilkenton?s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Howard Smith officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Bethlehem Church of God Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
