Fred Bridges Lenoir – Fred Douglas Bridges, age 66, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Caldwell County on October 20,1948 to the late Charles Arthur Bridges and Katherine Scott Bridges. Mr. Bridges spent his entire life in Caldwell County and began his work career in his teens as a cook at the Green Park Inn in Blowing Rock. He later served his country by joining the United States Marines and then returned home and became a proud member of the semi-professional football team, Caldwell Bulldogs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three uncles He is survived by his children, Fernando Bridges of Texas; Bryan Bridges; Andrea Barnes and husband, Everett of California; Frandetta Barnes of Charlotte; Okima Hall of Morganton; Andre Barnes of Charlotte; and Travis Wardrick of Lenoir; brothers, Charles J. Bridges and James L. Bridges, both of Lenoir; sisters, Nellie Torrance and husband, Brenton of Statesville and Barbara Ann Bridges of Lenoir; a special friend, Vernie Wardrick of Lenoir; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mr. Bridges life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Pastor James Wilfong officiating. Military honors will be presented. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
