Garland Everett Carswell

October 3, 1947 — February 11, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Garland “Buck” Everett Carswell, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Garland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, at the age of 78, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Buck was born on Friday, October 3rd, 1947, in North Carolina. He was a man of great strength and skill, dedicating much of his life to his work as a carpenter, where he crafted with both hands and heart. His contributions to his community and his craft will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his professional life, Buck honorably served his country as a Marine veteran in the Vietnam war. He proudly served his country.

Buck is lovingly remembered by his children, Scott Carswell, Jonathan Duckworth and his wife Betty, Matthew Carswell and his wife Jessica, and Destiny Hollingworth and her husband Brian. He leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. Garland is also survived by his sister, Bobbie Jean Mass, and his beloved nephew, Robbie Duckworth, who held a special place in his heart.

Preceding Buck in death is his father, Earl Carswell; mother, Myrtle Golightly; step-son, Jerry Deal; and his sister, Amie Clark. Their memory, alongside Buck's, will continue to bring comfort and guidance.

Family and friends are invited to honor Buck's life at Evans Funeral Service on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 12:00pm with a visitation being held at 11:00am.

Buck's legacy will endure through the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the love he cultivated. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

May he rest in peace.
