Mr. Gary Edward Maltba, age 85, of Lenoir, North Carolina was called home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2025. Born June 13, 1940, in Lenoir, NC, the son of late Walter Edward Maltba and Pearl Triplett Maltba.
He later met his beloved wife, Diane in their hometown of Lenoir. Their family spent many years in Florida before later returning home to North Carolina. Gary started his own painting business as young man, which he owned and operated until he retired. Gary took great pride in his work, as he was detail oriented and loved the flexibility of taking his children and grandchildren to work with him. He taught many of them the trade.
Anyone that knew Gary would recognize him by his signature look— his thick, dark hair combed to one side, a button-down shirt with a popped collar and blue jeans. Gary had a heart of gold and a passion for music. He would entertain his family by playing the guitar and singing. His vocals sounded nearly identical to Elvis Presley, whom Gary was a fan of. Gary loved his family deeply and was also an avid animal lover. He will be remembered for the love of his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane Elizabeth Maltba of Lenoir, NC.
He was a proud father of six children. He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Maltba (Michelle Maltba) and is survived by his 5 children Tammy Poole (Gene Poole), Bryan Maltba (Terri Maltba), Crystal McGuire (David McGuire), Amy Lingerfelt (Greg Lingerfelt Sr.), and Gretta Maltba. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Erica Camp, whom he and his wife raised as their own daughter and who was near and dear to their hearts. In addition, survived by grandchildren: Amber Grout, Angie Black, Andrew Beach, Ariel Maltba, Gregory Lingerfelt Jr., Jennifer Thompson, Justin Maltba, Scottie Maltba, Shane McGuire and Tenisa Setzer. In addition, Gary is survived by many great grandchildren. Also Survived by two special nieces; Shelley Oxford and Brittany Kondas.
