George Leslie Harmon

Mr. George Leslie Harmon, age 85, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir. Born November 21, 1925 in Caldwell County, George was a son of the late Lawrence and Hattie Wilson Harmon. George was a member of the East Hudson Baptist Church and had also retired from Bernhardt Plant # 1. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arvee Greene Harmon; a son Roger Harmon; a grandson, Christopher Harmon; and his brothers, Lester Harmon, Charles Harmon, Bernard Harmon, Elbert Harmon, Vance Harmon and James Harmon. Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Jimmie & Kim Harmon of Lenoir; a daughter and son in law, Christine & Joel Webster of Lenoir; two sisters, Betty Lipps of Lenoir, and Mary Laws of Hudson; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; George is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A celebration of George’s life will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Interment will follow the service in the Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, prior to the service.
