Georgia Melinda Crump Shew, 64, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on February 18, 2026.

Georgia was born on September 1, 1961, in Caldwell County, North Carolina, and was raised in Collettsville. She was the daughter of Jim and Margaret Crump.

She attended Lees-McRae College for two years and later dedicated her career to serving students as a valued member of the school cafeteria staff. Through her work, she not only provided meals but also shared kindness and warmth with countless children and families in her community.

Georgia was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a faithful friend. She was married to her husband, George Allen Shew, whom she cared for deeply and faithfully. She treasured her time with her son, Nathaniel Allen Shew, and loved her family wholeheartedly.

She is survived by her husband, George Allen Shew; her son, Nathaniel Allen Shew and his partner, Molly McNulty; her sisters, Melody Andes and Mandi Harris; her nieces, Megan Patton, Reagan Smith, and Rylee Smith; and her nephews, Ranger Smith, Dylan Harris, and Daniel Messer.

Georgia was a devoted church member who loved worshiping, fellowshipping, and spending time with her church family. She never met a stranger and truly loved meeting new people. Known for her kind heart, she was always willing to drop everything to help someone in need. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine love for others will be remembered by all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Georgia’s life will be held on Sunday, February 22, at Evans Funeral Home. The viewing will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m.

In honor of Georgia’s loving and caring spirit, the family kindly welcomes and appreciates any support through a food train for George Shew during this time.

Georgia’s legacy of faith, love, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
