Lenoir, NC ? Gilda Frances Icenhour, age 78, passed away Friday, May 21, 2010, at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 29, 1932 in Burke County to the late Etta Braswell Moody and Lacell Moody. Gilda was formerly employed with Skyland Textiles in Morganton, NC and later joined the family business, Piedmont Cleaners and Laundry in Lenoir for many years. Gilda loved cooking for family during the holidays, tending her flower beds in the spring and feeding the birds and squirrels. Gilda enjoyed traveling, visiting friends and yard sales. She always enjoyed a good joke and was full of life and laughter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Icenhour, brothers Jack Moody, Atley Moody, and Don Moody and sister Ermine Shuping. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Greg D. and Margaret Icenhour of Matthews, NC and Erik Kenneth Icenhour of Nashville, TN; one daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Daniel McGuire of Lenoir; brothers David Moody and Gary Moody; sisters, Polly Sigmon and Clara Huskey; four grandchildren, Laura Icenhour of Matthews, NC, Greg K. Icenhour of Matthews, NC, Trevor D. McGuire of Lenoir and Tyler D. McGuire of Lenoir. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center and the doctors and nurses of Grace Memorial Hospital for extending such loving care to Gilda. The family will receive friends at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
