Lenoir– Mrs. Gloria Hart Lewis, age 80, of Lenoir, died peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.Born July 25, 1935 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Thelma Erin Bradshaw Hart and the late Eugene Clay Hart. Gloria graduated from Collettsville High School where she participated in basketball.She received her teaching degree from Lenoir Rhyne College and taught for 32 years at Whitnel Elementary School before retiring.Gloria was an active member of Whitnel First Baptist Church and she loved and appreciated her church family.Two of her hobbies were coin and doll collecting. Gloria is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Roger Lewis, of the home; sisters, Mavis Leonard and husband Roy of Glen Alpine; Kelly Beller of Johnson City, TN and her brother, Clarence Hart and wife Barbara of Morganton.She has many cherished nieces and nephews along with her two Pomeranians, Maggie and Molly. A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held 4:00 PM Monday, November 16, 2015 at Whitnel First Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Hedgecock and Reverend Stuart White officiating.Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the Church.
