Grace Propst

Lenoir – Mrs. Grace Colvard Propst, age 97, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Lenoir Healthcare. Mrs. Propst was born in Caldwell County on April 9, 1920 to the late Russell Colvard and Ida Hice Colvard. She and her late husband, Floyd Propst, owned and operated grocery and variety stores. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. In addition to her late husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Roger Dale Propst and Dean Propst; brothers, Bob Colvard, Eugene Clark and Lester Colvard; and sister, Thelma Abel. Mrs. Propst is survived by her daughter, Eugenia “Jean” Barlowe and husband, Carroll Cannon; daughter-in-law, Brenda Propst; sisters, Rachel Duncan; Barbara Irons; brothers, Russell Colvard, Jr.; Mack Colvard; Tony Colvard; grandchildren, Eric Barlowe; Deckster Barlowe; and Alex Propst;seven great-grandchildren; special cousins, Rachel Brackett and Ann Hamilton; and dear friend, Brenda Carswell. A celebration of Mrs. Propst’s life will be at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Frank Hall officiating. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
