Greg Triplett Lenoir, NC- Gregory Glenn Triplett, age 59, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Caldwell County on September 15, 1954 to the late Glenn F. Triplett and Barbara McLean Triplett. He was married to Joan Brakefield Triplett of the residence. Greg was loved by his family and will be remembered as having never met a stranger. He was comical and a well-known musician. Greg was a 1973 graduate of Lenoir High School. He was a member of the Triplett Family Gospel Group, and played in numerous bands throughout his life including Union Square, which became Sound Wave, and later with the Sylvio Martinat Swing Band. After graduation from high school he worked for Fairfield Chair, Hammary, and Bernhardt Furniture. He presently was working for Caldwell County Schools as a custodian at Granite Falls Elementary School. Greg was a former broadcaster for WKGX, a past member of the Historical Preservation 26th NC Troops Reactivated and a former member of the Caldwell County Fife and Drum Corps. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Jeffrey Lynn Triplett. Other than his wife, he is survived by his son, Jason Gregory Triplett and wife, Courtney of Lenoir; son, Matthew Edward Triplett and wife, Kimberly of Idaho; daughter, Myra Kimberlee Triplett of Chapel Hill; brother, Terry Triplett and wife, Elisa of Lenoir; grandchildren, Vallarie Marie Triplett, Owen McLean Triplett, Ava Lou Triplett; and the family is anxiously awaiting the arrival of their newest grandson; and he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. A celebration on Greg̢۪s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Steve Connor officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tony Edward Brakefield, David Keller, Marcus Keller, Phillip Glasco, Jonathan Ansley and John Yokeley. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Whisnant, Keith Triplett and Dallin Brown. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM.
