Harley Henry Philyaw, Sr., age 78, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. Born March 4, 1943 in Caldwell County, He was a son of the late David Luther and Martha Etta (Barnett) Philyaw.He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Eddie, Charles and Joe; a sister, Millie Bowen. He is survived by his wife (First Lady) Nancy (Braden Bartlett) of 16 years; his sons, Harley Jr. (wife Wonda), Greg, Chris (wife Stephanie), Bryan (wife Angie) and Barry (wife Kathie) Bartlett; a daughter, Lea Thomas; a brother, Dennis; sisters, Essie Coffey, Ruth Humphreys, Carolyn Philyaw, Dolly Coffey and Jewel Hollar; he was Pop to 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Harley was a US Army veteran.He was employed by Excelon Corporation in Calvert County, Maryland for over 25 years.He loved talking about how good his God was and all will have memories of his stories.
