Helen Jean Bowlin

February 28, 1950 — August 21, 2025

Helen Jean Bowlin, a cherished resident of Black Mountain, North Carolina, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born in Virginia on February 28, 1950, Helen was the beloved daughter of the late Torrence and Hazel Taylor. She is preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Welch, and her brother, Thomas Taylor.

Helen dedicated her life to her family and was a nurturing homemaker. She leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by her children: Brenda Townsend (Marcus), Eddie Bowlin, Shannon Bowlin (Shelly), and Timmy Bowlin (Shannon), as well as her grandchildren, Aaron, Bradley, Logan, Devon, Madison, and Chase, and her adored great-grandchildren, Nathan and Emmy. Helen is also survived by her brother, William Taylor (Juliet), along with numerous other family members who will hold her memory dear.

Helen was a devoted member of her church, where she found great joy in rejoicing and singing hymns. Her love for her family was evident in her words and actions; she constantly reminded them of her pride and love. An accomplished poet, Helen had a gift for words and often expressed her feelings and experiences through her writing. She also had a sweet spot for the music of Elvis and Conway Twitty, which filled her home with melodies she adored.

A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 4:00 PM at East Hudson Baptist Church. The family finds solace in the knowledge that Helen is at peace and rejoices in the wonderful memories she leaves behind.
