Lenoir – Mrs. Helen Faye Wheeler Greene, age 83, passed on to Glory October 27, 2020. She was the baby girl of nine children born in Caldwell County, on August 31, 1937, to the late Council Carson Wheeler and Jennie Mae Munday Wheeler. Helen was a vibrant personality and a lover of life. She had a great sense of humor, enjoying flowers, feeding her birds and talking with life-long friends. The highlight of her life, in her words, were her grandchildren, who she loved and adored beyond measure. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, high school sweetheart, Jay Horace Greene; son, Larry Jay Greene; brothers, Lawrence Wheeler, Grady Wheeler, William “Bill” Wheeler, Charles Wheeler and Council Carson Wheeler, Jr.; and sisters, Lola Wheeler, Jewell Pennell, and Myrtle Frye. Helen is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lynne Greene and husband, Steve Mullis; daughter-in-law, Sherry Coffey Greene; grandchildren, Brandy Greene Link and husband, John; Benjamin Scott Childress and wife, Ashlee; Nickolas Adam Greene; and Spencer Olivia Childress; great-grandson, CÃrdan Lewis Scott Childress; and two great-grandchildren to be born February 2021. The family would like to bring awareness to the elderly population regarding falls and Rhabdomyolysis. A private graveside memorial service celebrating Helen’s life will be held at Bethany Baptist Church in the Richlands.
