Henry "Pete" Frederick Alt, Jr.

Henry “Pete” Frederick Alt, Jr., a devoted family man and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully in Lenoir, NC, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Washington, D.C., on May 8, 1941, Henry lived a life rich with dedication to his family, community, and passions.

Henry enjoyed a rewarding career as a bus driver with the D.C. public schools, serving the community for over 30 years before retiring. His kind nature and laughter brightened the lives of countless children over the decades.

Beyond his professional life, Henry was an avid bowler, participating in several bowling leagues across Delaware and Maryland. He was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge, where he formed lifelong friendships. Henry found great joy in traveling with his family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His family has fond memories of their summer beach trips and summers at Connecticut Belair Swim Club where he cheered on his daughters at their swim meets.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Stacey Alt and her fiancé Derrick German, and Karen McKiernan. His legacy lives on through his beloved grandchildren, Jamie Zibragos and wife Amanda; Justin Zibragos and wife Jessica; and Katelyn McKiernan; as well as his great-grandchildren, Christian, Madison, Lainey, and Baylor Zibragos. Henry also leaves behind his brother Robert Alt and wife Terry, sister Peggy Schuster and husband Richard, cousin Linda Derrick and husband John, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Henry was preceded in death by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Linda B. Alt, whose memory he cherished deeply.

A celebration of Henry's life will take place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel at Evans Funeral Service, with Pastor Mack Jarvis officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service. Henry will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Millville Cemetery in Ocean View, Delaware.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Amorem, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645, in lieu of flowers.
