Lenoir, NC-Herbert ?Hub? Hoover Minton, 81, of Lenoir, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born May 7, 1928 in Wilkes County to the late Olin Franklin ?O.F.? and Dessie Rader Byers Minton. Herbert was a mechanic, working almost 40 years with Smith?s Garage. He was a charter member of the Resurrection Hope Church. He and his wife enjoyed wood working and making crafts. He loved going fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Minton; and two sisters, Della Minton and Ruby Minton. Herbert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mozelle Minton of the Home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Dave Church of Lenoir, and Punki and Dewey Phillips of Hudson; one son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Elaine Minton of Perrin, TX; eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; his loving pet, Buddy; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Herbert?s life will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Resurrection Hope Church with Reverend James Ritch officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Smith, David Phillips, Russ Smith, Jason Phillips, Alan Lutz, and Eddie Lutz. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Austin and Donald Austin. The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service.
